A glimpse of life at UK Power Networks

What we do

What We Do

We own and maintain electricity cables and deliver power to homes and businesses in London, The South East and the East of England. This means over 8 million homes and businesses rely on us for their electricity. If someone needs a new cable connected, an existing cable moved or upgraded, or if there’s a power cut – we’re the people to call. It’s a big job with lots of responsibility, something we’d never be able to achieve without our dedicated employees and their expertise in disciplines as diverse as engineering, customer service and social media. This is where you’ll come in.

Rewards and benefits

Rewards and Benefits

Happy employees are motivated employees. This is why we give our people more rewards and benefits than any other company in our industry. These include little things that can make a big difference, such as a Cycle to Work Scheme, Care4 childcare vouchers and hundreds of discounts in many high street stores and websites.

But what really sets us apart is our excellent training and development, which is why many of our employees go on to become highly respected figures in the industry.

Be part of a winning team

Be Part of a Winning Team

When you join UK Power Networks, you’ll be part of a respected, award-winning team.

We see it as our responsibility to go beyond the call of duty, from helping to tackle fuel poverty to giving our employees training and development that’s tailored to their precise needs. This dedication to being a Respected Corporate Citizen has resulted in recognition across numerous industries, from energy to customer service to social media. We’ve won many awards as a business. And so have our employees. Here are just a few:

Our vision for the future

Our Vision for the Future

The world is rapidly changing. The energy industry must adapt to this change or be left behind. Quite simply, we, as an innovative, forward-thinking business, are in the driving seat to lead this adaptation. It’s a big responsibility. Our overall vision is to become:

Our Chief Executive, Basil Scarsella says it best:

UK Power Networks is leading those changes, transforming our business to become a top class performer in the electricity distribution industry. UK Power Networks’ performance depends on the contribution of all our employees. We're always looking to recruit motivated and capable individuals who will help us achieve our aim to be the ‘best performing Distribution Network Operator’ in the UK. Strength in diversity

Strength in Diversity

The future of our business rests on our people. Every single person we employ must feel like they are wanted, listened to and respected, whatever their background and beliefs. This is why Diversity and Inclusiveness is one of our core values.

We have Diversity Champions who act as role models for diversity and equality within the business. We build inclusion from the top, with diversity workshops and seminars that educate our management team on the unconscious biases that can affect the way we treat people and how we can overcome these. We provide a platform for employees to share their views, tell us what we’re doing well and make recommendations for improvement.

Empower Community

Empower Community

EMPower Community is a platform created by employees for the employees to raise suggestions and any issues around Diversity & Inclusivity (D&I). The Community is also a sounding board for the company's D&I activities, where employees can help UK Power Networks vision to an Employer of Choice.  The Community’s overall aim is to work with the organisation to accelerate equality and inclusion. A significant part of this involves celebrating diversity by raising awareness through a variety of events and activities linked to National and International awareness days highlighted throughout the year.
