**Applications for our 2018 Engineering Graduate Programme are now open. Closing date is 11th March 2018. Apply today! **

Our Institute of Engineering and Technology - accredited Graduate Engineering Programme is designed to help you develop the skills you need to progress and provides the stepping stones to become a Chartered Engineer. The programme will add to your all-round understanding of engineering and our various business practices while, at the same time, giving you first-hand experience. As well as giving you an insight into all aspects of our company, we'll make sure that you get all the support you need from our professional skills team.

There are two phases: during your first year you will attend a variety of courses and undertake rotational placements in business areas.

The programme begins with an eight-week induction during which time you will gain an in depth insight into our business. You will also complete the Prince 2 Foundation and Practitioner qualifications.

Furthermore, some of the Engineering specific courses include:
- Distribution network awareness
- Training on our three main crafts: jointing, fitting, working on overhead lines
- Linking and fusing
- High Voltage (HV) switching

Throughout your first year you will have a home base location in one of our three licence areas covering London, the South East or the East of England. You will divide your time during this year between your home base and shorter rotational placements in other business areas.

In your second year, you'll then progress into your first supported role in the business which will see you based at your original home base location. During this time you will continue to be part of the graduate programme and will receive all of the mentoring and support you need to ensure you succeed. You will gain valuable work experience – not to mention the opportunities you need to gain the professional qualifications to become a future leader in your field. What's more, we'll provide you with a Chartered Engineer mentor, as well as membership of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).

At the end of the two years, you will then have the choice to continue working in your home base location and business area or apply to other suitable opportunities across the business. Our graduate career progression policy will ensure that you continue to be supported in your professional development.

Over the course of the programme, you'll be reviewed on a quarterly basis to monitor your progress and development. You will also have access to exciting opportunities such as attending external industry conferences and site visits.

The Graduate Alumni Network group will allow you to meet with previous and current graduates in the business as well as having the opportunity to build your own internal network.
